28 students in the field of embedded systems are set to join the ranks of world-class specialists and innovators to graduate from the EIT Digital Academy. On November 26 these 28 students will receive two master school degrees and a certificate of the European Institute of Technology at the EIT Digital Masters School Graduation Day in Stockholm. They will then be ready to help keep Europe at the vanguard of the digital transformation.
Embedded systems are everywhere. You find them in robots, cars, aeroplanes, mobile telephones and health-care equipment. More than 98% of the world's processors are located in embedded systems. No wonder European companies have a strong demand for highly skilled, creative engineers, innovators and system architects in this field. Europe also needs brand new companies that are able to provide innovative embedded solutions to address societal challenges, to improve the quality of life, and to boost Europe's economies and technological innovation.
EIT Digital's Embedded Systems programme addresses these societal needs. Graduates of the programme will be world-class specialists and innovators in the field of embedded systems, capable of developing embedded solutions for new challenges in the areas of cyber-physical systems and internet-of-things.
Dr. Patrick Hartigan, head of the EIT Digital Master School said: "Students on this programme get really good insights into the role of embedded systems in modern society. Through our unique model which combines technical and entrepreneurial skills, students learn to turn innovations into business ideas and high tech embedded systems startups. In that way we prepare them to be the innovators Europe needs."
The Embedded Systems programme involves seven partner universities. These are the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, The technische Universität Berlin in Germany (TUB), the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in the Netherlands (TU/e), AALTO University in Finland, University of Turku also in Finland, University of Trento in Italy and Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungary. Students follow their masters in two universities and even have an additional summer school course at a third university.
