From Thursday to Saturday of last week (October 11 – 13, 2012), the first class of students as well as faculty and staff members of the EIT ICT Labs Master School gathered in Stockholm, Sweden, to kick off their Master School.

About 180 attendees from 26 countries came together to this two and a half day event in Kista Science City to get to know each other and work together in student's group challenges, linking the business and education sections of the Master School and also introducing the innovation & entrepreneurship aspects of the Master’s programme.

Speakers from faculty and industry provided an insight into hot topics in ICT and shared their experience, some with a background in web 2.0 start-ups (Andreas Ehn, former CTO of Spotify) and others came from large European coorporations (i.e. Roberto Saracco of Telekom Italia; Anders Caspár of Ericcson).

The highlight of the event were the 20 students‘ presentations of the student’s challenge, each dealing with a hot topic in the ICT world. Awards were given out in four categories "Award for the Best Idea", "Best Presentation", "The Audience Award" and "The Jury Award".
