Aalto University (Aalto)

Helsinki, Finland

Established in 2010, the Aalto University is a new university with centuries of experience. The Aalto University was created from the merger of three Finnish universities: The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and The University of Art and Design Helsinki.

Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB)

The Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) is the largest Romanian university with about 50,000 students, located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. UBB has a long academic tradition, started by Universitas Claudiopolitana in 1581. It occupies the first position in the University Metaranking, initiated by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research.

The University offers study programmes in Romanian, Hungarian, German, English, and French (as well as a smaller number of programmes at the Master's level taught in Spanish, Italian, and Japanese), and aims to promote and sustain the development of specific cultural components within the local, regional, national and international community.

Eötvös Lorand University (ELTE)

Budapest, Hungary

This is the youngest faculty (2003) of the oldest Hungarian university (1635). Almost 3000 students decided to study computer science here. Usually, we have four times more student applications than available places. The high standard of training is guaranteed by the highly qualified academic staff.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH)

Stockholm, Sweden

KTH in Stockholm is the largest, oldest and most international technical university in Sweden. Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI)

Milan, Italy

Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) is Italy’s largest university of Architecture, Design and Engineering. According to the 2017 QS World University ranking in Engineering & Technology, POLIMI ranks first in Italy, seventh in Europe and twenty-fourth worldwide. Founded in 1863, POLIMI counts three main campuses located in Milan, and five campuses based around the Lombardy region, one of the most industrialised areas of Europe. Strategic research is carried out in many fields including ICT, mathematics and management, with more than 250 laboratories. The university conducts a strong internationalisation policy, with several programmes taught entirely in English. In 2015/2016, 21% of the students enrolled in Master of Science Programmes were international.

POLIMI offers two EIT Digital Master School programmes: Data Science and Human Computer Interaction and Design.

Please note that the Entry Human Computer Interaction and Design is best suited for applicants with a degree in Computer Science Engineering. This means a strong base of ICT, computer science, programming and engineering courses in your transcript of records, including math courses at academic level (e.g. calculus, discrete or stats) and physics. A competitive academic record (of more than 3.4/4 or 4.24/5 or B+) is also needed. Please note that the admission committee of Polimi can specify additional constraints on the individual study plan on the basis of previous studies, in order to compensate possible lacks in basic prerequisites.

Riga Technical University (RTU)

Université Côte d’Azur (UCA)

Nice, France

The Université Côte d’Azur (UCA) - former UNS, second largest multidisciplinary university in France with 25,000 students, stands out as a higher education institution strongly committed to international openness.

The Université Côte d’Azur (UCA) offers Data Science as an Entry and an Exit. The courses are physically taught at Polytech Nice Sophia on the Sophia Antipolis campus.

Polytech Nice Sophia belongs to the Polytech consortium, a network of excellence bringing together 14 graduate schools of engineering, embedded in leading French universities. Polytech delivers Master of Engineering labelled ‘Titre d’ingénieur diplômé’ and ‘EURopean ACcredited Engineer’ (EUR-ACE®). Both labels are recognized by employers as proof of high quality standard in engineering education.

EIT Digital Master School students enrolled in the first year in Data Science at Polytech Nice Sophia are awarded a Master degree in Computer Science from the University Côte d'Azur as well as from the other EIT Digital partner university they will be studying at.

On top of that, they can also choose to be awarded the ‘Titre d’ingénieur diplômé’ and ‘EUR-ACE’ quality labels in Applied Mathematics - Data science specialty, from Polytech Nice Sophia. To do so, students only need to successfully complete one additional semester at Polytech Nice Sophia after the EIT Digital Master School. Moreover, rules are under revision, and probably from 2019, no additional semester may even be needed.

University of Twente (UT)

Twente, The Netherlands

University of Twente offers a range of educational qualifications, including Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, PhDs and post-academical programmes. The basis for all education is the three-year Bachelor’s programme which culminates in a Bachelor of Science degree. The Bachelor’s degree allows access to one or more Master’s programmes, which in turn lead to a Master of Science degree. The unifying theme which can be found throughout all educational activities is entrepreneurship.
