Intelligent Chips and Systems (ICS)

Design the Technology That Powers Everything

Microchips are everywhere. They're in your smartphone, your car, the satellites overhead, the medical devices saving lives, and the AI systems reshaping our world. Every major technological breakthrough—from autonomous vehicles to quantum computing—starts with a chip. And Europe needs you to design them.

The Intelligent Chips and Systems Master's programme puts you at the heart of the semiconductor revolution. Study across two leading European universities, master both hardware and software design, and gain the entrepreneurial skills to transform ideas into innovation. In two years, you'll go from student to the kind of engineer that Europe's tech sovereignty depends on.

This is your chance to shape the future—one chip at a time.

Why Intelligent Chips and Systems?

The World Runs on Chips. Will You Design Them?

Microelectronics engineers are the architects of the modern world. The chips you'll learn to design don't just power devices—they enable breakthroughs:

  • Healthcare: Implantable devices monitoring heart health in real-time, AI-powered diagnostics running on edge processors
  • Mobility: Self-driving cars processing millions of data points per second to keep passengers safe
  • Sustainability: Energy-efficient chips reducing global power consumption and enabling smart grids
  • Security: Hardware-level encryption protecting everything from banking to critical infrastructure
  • Space Exploration: Radiation-hardened processors exploring Mars and beyond
  • AI Revolution: Specialized chips accelerating machine learning and making AI accessible everywhere

The global semiconductor market is projected to reach €1 trillion by 2030, with Europe investing €43 billion to double its global market share. The demand for chip designers has never been higher, and it's only growing.

Your expertise won't just be valuable. It will be essential.
